United Way Campaign at 100%

Tony Nasralla, chairman of the 2007 Results You Can See campaign, announced Friday that the annual campaign has reached 101% of its $162,000 goal.

The goal was surpassed by $5,000, making the total $167,000.  " I want to commend the community for its support during the Titusville Area United Way annual campaign.  The strength of a community is directly related to how we care for those less fortunate.  Titusville is clearly a strong and compassionate community," he said.

Funds raised from the Results You Can See campaign will be used to fund numerous programs throughout the community provided by the community partners and the Titusville Area United Way.

In 2008, these funds will be used to support 4 new programs in our region.  The progrmas added to the United Way family include Keystone Blind Association's vision screenings and services to the visually impaired; the joint project between the Titusivlle Health and Aging Center and Leisure Services for the evening soup kitchen; and two early childhood programs including the YWCA's Fun Factory and the YMCA's Kinder Art Gym and Swim program.

Jody Lavery, administratiave professional of the Titusville Area United Way stated, "Although we have reached our goal, our books and doors are always open to those who wish to contribute.  Any additional funds received over our annual goal are used as an additional funding source for our agencies for emergency needs, special program grants and initiatives.  With the rising cost of fuel, the need continues to increase for emergency funds."

PNC Grow Up Great

YWCA Fun Factory and YMCA Kinder Art Gym and Swim programs receive donation from PNC Grow UP Great

Pre-School students at the YWCA Fun Factory and the YMCA Kinder Art Gym and Swim program were recent recipients of the PNC Grow Up Great Program.  Sandy Hepler, Manager of the Titusville PNC Branch, and Terri Ann Wig, Chief Professional Officer of the Titusville Area United Way, facilitator of the Award, visited both organizations earlier this week to see the gifts in action.

The PNC Grow Up Great Program is a ten-year, $100 million commitment to prepare young children, from birth to age five, for shcool and life.  PNC's investment in school readiness will yield stronger, smarter, healthier children, families and communities.  School eadiness encompasses the preparedness of the whole child, including cognitive, social and emotional abilities.

The PNC program advocates in support of public policy initiatives that promote school readiness.  It provides grants to "best-of-class" childhood development organizations and activities, states Hepler.  We are proud to be able to bring these funds to the Titusville YMCA and YWCA programs.

Terri Wig of the United Way worked as a facilitator, reviewing the program criterion and providing recommendations tothe staff of PNC.  I am thrilled that PNC is interested in the future leaders of our community, stated Wig.  I am honored that they allowed our organization to play a small part in this program.

Each of the organizations received $250.00 of merchandise from a wish list propared by the staff of the early childhood programs.  The YWCA received gym equipment and a water play table, while the YMCA selected various craft and educational items.
